WHAT can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows...
Marcella, 9pm, ITVAnna Friel returns for series 2 as troubled cop Marcella in the gripping ITV drama
There’s one massive thing missing from the new series of Anna Friel’s (right) crime thriller: the iconic green parka jacket that Marcella sported throughout the first run.
But, never fear, she’s sporting a new signature coat this time around: a snazzy navy trench. Sartorial changes aside, the latest series has all the ingredients that made the last round so enticing – multiple plot strands, moody Scandinavian lighting and a chewy mystery to puzzle over.
Friel is great once again as the flawed female detective trying to crack a case while battling her pesky bouts of amnesia, and although you’ll still feel a bit lost at times, that’s kind of the point.
Collateral, 9pm, BBC Two
This tangled drama continues at a rollicking pace as Kip (Carey Mulligan, left) learns that Linh thinks Abdullah’s killer was a woman – but will that bring her any closer to discovering it was Sandrine?
There’s also a big revelation from the dead man’s sister, a discovery of money and more shady goings-on at the pizza shop.
24 Hours In Police Custody, 9pm, Channel 4
This fascinating episode follows the Bedfordshire police force after they’re approached by a man who’s being blackmailed after a trip to a sex worker.
It seems like it should be a simple case, but DI Jerry Waite (above) and his team are amazed to discover that one of their own could be involved. A documentary that plays out more like a drama.
MOTD: Wigan Athletic v Manchester City, 7.30pm, BBC One
At first glance, this cup tie looks like a mismatch, with the Premier League leaders and their stars such as Raheem Sterling sure to steamroller League One opposition.
But Wigan are on a serious run of form – they’ve got a brilliant record at home this season and Will Grigg (below) is on fire as the leading scorer in the FA Cup with six goals already.
An upset is possible, if unlikely.
Boarding Schools: The Secret Shame – Exposure, 10.45pm, ITV
Journalist Alex Renton (above) was abused as an eight-year-old boy at an elite boarding school in Sussex.
Here, Alex investigates why some institutions have been covering up abuse for years, and comes face-to-face with a convicted paedophile teacher.
