Roger Federer: Rafael Nadal Rivalry Discussed By Tennis Umpire Fergus Murphy I Am Lucky

The rivalry between Nadal and Federer has spanned more than a decade with the duo clocking up a staggering 36 Grand Slam wins between them.

Federer sits four clear of his rival after winning the Australian Open last month, where he battled past Marin Cilic to take the prize.

Nadal, however, is expected to close the gap when the French Open commences in May. The 31-year-old has lost just twice in 12 tournament appearances at Roland Garros.

And umpire Murphy, who is a familiar face to those who follow tennis and the ATP Tour, has talked up Roger Federer and Nadal and praised the way they push each other onto new heights.

“I have experienced so much over the course of this career and wouldn’t swap those experiences for the world,” he told Tennis 365.

“I’ve seen some amazing places all over the world, met some great people and been lucky enough to be around a sport that is enjoying a real boom at the moment.
